Environmental Impact Assessment
Struan Energy Limited (SEL) has conducted
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) on a variety of projects ranging from
exploration drilling exercises to major offshore developments. The approach taken by SEL to EIA is
to fully involve the client project team, engaging their support and input
to the EIA process. This
ensures that the EIA is closely linked to the project development and in
addition clearly identifies the potential for environmental impact arising
from project activities.

EHS Management Systems
SEL have designed and implemented
Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems for Upstream Oil and
Gas companies. SEL can provide
help in identifying needs through conducting gap analysis of clients
current systems and the development of new systems including preparation of
procedures.

EHS Audits
SEL has experience of conducting EHS audits in a wide variety
of geographical locations. Using
either audit protocol developed in-house or a standard such as EBRD/World
Bank, the company can produce a comprehensive non-intrusive audit that
identifies the principle EHS issues as well as providing recommendations
for EHS improvements.

Crisis Management
SEL can offer crisis management consultancy
based on years of practical implementation. The core of the methodology is to assist companies to
develop crisis management plans that convert a crisis into a project that
can be managed. This is
achieved through the formulation of procedures and work practices to enable
personnel to become familiar with the actions required of them in the event
of a crisis.

Incident and Accident
Investigation
SEL can conduct onsite investigations into incidents and
accidents and has personnel who are trained as radiological advisors. SEL has experience of conducting
materials failure analysis for the private sector as well as National Government
Authorities. Failure analysis
skills extend to conducting incident investigation for safety and
environmental incidents and accidents and near-misses. SEL also has experience in the
provision of corrosion consultancy services.

Training
SEL has experience of training E&P personnel up to
post-graduate M.Sc. and Ph.D. level.
Training course can be stand-alone, in-house or part of an ongoing
M.Sc. programme. SEL can also
provide training in EIA techniques, environmental legislation, noise
assessment, crisis management and general environmental awareness. SEL has produced an online
environmental course which is one module of an M.Sc. programme run by the
Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
SEL administers the environmental module, providing online support
to students.
The company also runs a week-long M.Sc. course that
incorporates a field course in which students are taught the basics of
environmental impact analysis and assessment.

Services
SEL can provide advice on a wide range of HSE issues and is
able to field a team with diverse and extensive expertise in all HSE
issues. This includes
radiological protection as well as workplace health protection. Services

in conducting consultancy to a wide range of businesses in the provision of
consultancy services. This
consultancy, principally for the Oil and Gas Industry, has covered advice
on cathodic protection systems, structural integrity and internal process
corrosion monitoring. Struan
Energy also has experience of conducting materials failure analysis for the
